Gaurang Shah, revered as the ‘Master of Weaves’, is a distinguished name in the realm of high-end handwoven sarees and fashion garments. As a self-taught designer, he has a profound belief in Indian textile art and a passion for bringing weavers to the forefront. He champions niche woven textiles such as Khadi, Jamdani, Uppada, Paithani, Kanjeevaram, Benarasi, Patan Patola, Kota and Dhakai. In celebration of the diverse and rich Indian textile forms, and to showcase how Gaurang Shah infuses them with opulence and grandeur, I have created a unique coffee table book titled ‘Limitless Traditions’. The design of the book boldly plays with contrasts and complementary interplay of textiles and colours. It uses provocative, behind-the-scenes imagery that captures the intricate process of transforming a single strand of fabric into a work of art. This book serves as a tribute to the limitless traditions of Indian textile art and the mastery of Gaurang Shah in bringing them to life.
